I installed the Cascadia on my wife's hybrid bike about a year ago and have had NO problems with it since, so when I had a road bike with the right fender eyelets and spacing I went with it. away with him. I think so after a few months of daily use of them :good: - easy to put on. they lasted maybe half an hour. You have to remove the rear wheel so obviously they're a lot easier to install if you have a kickstand to get to the chainstay bridge etc but it's not necessary. I installed my wife easily by simply flipping the bike over. - excellent coverage. A long mudguard front fender minimizes water ingress to your feet. the same from behind keeps the face of the guy behind you nice and dry.- nice and easy. much lighter than comparable aluminum fenders. they weigh about 220 grams and are mostly quiet in my opinion (see below). Once you've gotten all the clearances you'll hear a slight rumble when going over bumps and the like, but that's to be expected with all fenders. I use the 35mm street version with 25mm tires. No problem if they walk over socks. but it depends on your bike. If you have a shorter wheelbase and your toes almost overlap, you could be in trouble. - can be used with a fork mounted roof rack without removing it. The front fender hits the trunk pan but then it just springs back and everything is fine (I have Rockeymount's Tierod roof pans). - Planet Bike gives bike safety/protection money back. and they don't want you to throw away their products and buy new ones if you have problems with them in the future; Hence, they sell parts directly from their website with free shipping. I like to give my money to such companies. not very good: - you have to trim excess metal off the ends of the racks and this requires either a hacksaw or bolt cutters. I chose the latter and it was very easy, but many people may not have them. You MUST cut them off, otherwise overlapping the toe is more likely (and dangerous) and you could cut yourself on the ends. - On a road bike you have to mount them on brake stays (compared to touring, cross or hybrid bikes). where you don't even touch the cantilever or V-brakes those bikes use). They interfere with brake adjustment, which means a little more fiddling and fine-tuning. Check out Sheldon's Fender Nut Troubleshooting Guide: Sheldon's Troubleshooting Fender Nut Set - 13mm front and 10mm rear. These are small nuts that replace the brake strut nuts and effectively lengthen the rear end of the brake strut. You screw the Sheldon nut into the brake leg and then the fender into the Sheldon nut. then you don't have to bother with the brake adjustment when installing and removing the mudguards and you can install and remove them easily and quickly. After initial installation, they can be removed/installed in about two minutes. highly recommended. The plastic part that holds the rear fender to the brake strut (or Sheldon nut) is the primary cause of these fenders rattling. it rattles when two pieces of plastic are bent against each other. no amount of adjustment will make this any easier on my bike. eventually i found a metal version of the same part made from leftover sks chromoly parts; it fits a lot tighter so I used that instead. now the rear wing is absolutely silent. NOTE: I haven't noticed this issue on my wife's bike, so it can be highly dependent on the bike, clearance, tires, alignment, etc. Overall I like it. I don't live in Portland or Seattle, so it doesn't feel like it rains all the time to me. I live in northeast Ohio where the weather changes almost every hour. In winter this means it rains or snows for an hour (or a day or a week) and then is dry but just above freezing for several weeks. then 60F for two days, then freeze again. That means the roads are almost always covered in rain/snow/melt debris because it's never warm enough to dry out completely. These fenders are great for that as well as consistent rain/snow conditions. They make caring for your bike and you much easier and extend the service life of the components. and that is indeed why you wanted wings in the first place. They do the job, are easy to install, lightweight, inexpensive, and have just a few minor flaws that are easy to fix. completely happy.
