Manicure for Dummies!

I'm using a gel strip for the first time. And I'm in love My husband may have competitors πŸ˜‰ This is quite a long review. So buckle up. I have experience with nail polish strips but this is my first time using gel strips. I was attracted to a brand that shouldn't be named and wasn't thrilled with the likely cost and delivery time, so I looked to Revain for some "hoaxes". These strips are nice and thick, but not too thick. They apply easily, cut well, are flexible, stretch when needed and dry hard. I bought a higher wattage UV lamp than most companies offer as portable freebies that may have helped with the curing. I also used a gel top coat which I would recommend no matter what your level of experience. Closing the free edge is of paramount importance. There is a learning curve to use (like most things) and my first gel strip manicure isn't perfect. But overall it was pretty hard to screw up. Do a little research and follow the instructions. My advice: * Wash your hands with soap and water and allow plenty of time to dry COMPLETELY. About an hour. * Make sure there is no moisture. Apply to nails before application. * Buff your nails, but don't wash your hands afterwards. Use alcohol wipes to dry nails and remove oil and wipe clean. COATING ON THE CUTicle. It's so tempting to want to lift it right next to the cuticle to completely cover the entire nail bed, but when you overlap the cuticle just ask to be lifted and pulled off. It's better to do less or have a tiny space than an overlap. *Use an orange stick or silicone cuticle pusher to carefully smooth any edges before curing. * Pay attention to the recommended curing time. and then add another 30-60 seconds. * If using a base coat, then apply a Curing Strip.Gel, then a Curing.Top Coat, then a Curing. Don't be Blanche Devereux. It's my third day and I love them so far. No signs of cracking, chipping, peeling or lifting. They are shiny, durable and beautiful. I'll be back in a few weeks to update. But even as a beginner, with an imperfect manicure (due to my own mistakes), I'm sure that I won't have anything to complain about. I LOVE these gel strips!
