This solved the problem of having to access nvme m.2 drives when all my motherboard slots were full. It works fine on the fly, but it requires an external power connector and doesn't just work with USB-C, at least for me using all the USB-Cs I have on my devices, the ones on my M1 Mac Mini and on my x570 pg velocita were motherboard. I should also add that it is perfectly normal for the device to feel quite warm. But this temperature is actually in the absolutely normal temperature range of a computer chip, it's just not skin-friendly, if you know what I mean. If you're really concerned, just make sure there's a light breeze blowing on it or something, but your drives should be perfectly fine. That's the only reason I gave it a three because I know it can be a problem for most people because I don't know maybe you could ask a kid to touch things on your desk and they could get burned because of this. Or maybe it's on the edge of the table and maybe you touch it with your hand and it scares you and then you knock things off the table because you have a startle reflex or something, I don't know, but I'm trying. Be honest with the rating. It does what it's supposed to do, the speed might not be 100% but that's ok because I mean you're trying to access m.2 nvme drives over a single USB-C.
