I chose this monitor to replace a Sony 17 inch 1280 x 1024 LCD monitor that I had for about six years. I spent a lot of time narrowing down my choices and settled on the Asus VW224U for several reasons: 1. It was recommended by [ .] in one of their system manuals. 2. It had a matte screen. 3. Aspect ratio 16:10 (1680x1050). 4. It was relatively cheap. When I received it I was able to customize it. quickly and for several days everything was ok then one morning it went out and flickered again when my computer started up i didn't attach any importance to it but then it started several times in a row even when the pc was started up or the monitor came out of standby. Then it started turning itself off and on again. Pressing the power button would turn it back on, and then it would turn off again, repeating itself several times until it finally stayed on. I unplugged and plugged everything back in, including using a screwdriver to attach the DVI connector to make sure it was in good condition. ted (due to the stand, it was difficult to press against my thumbs). Success! For a day. Finally, one morning after a week and a half of ownership, the monitor refused to even turn on. I even tried plugging it somewhere else. Nothing at all. So I sent it back to Revane. (Thanks to them for making the process easy and free.) I'm sure if I traded it in a replacement would be good, but I didn't want to risk it. So I replaced it with a 23" LG W2353V monitor.
