Review on Shell】Surface Surface Gigabit Ethernet Display by Juan Axum

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent match for Surface

I wanted to replace my desk at the office with something I could easily take to the courthouse, on vacation, or just to take home. The cloud options aren't secure enough for some of the things I do, and I'm tired of trying to sync and track flash drives. However, I couldn't imagine working on a small laptop or tablet all day. The docking station option seemed a good fit. I targeted one of the most expensive/difficult docks but couldn't justify the cost so quickly after putting all my money into computers. So I bought it with the intention of upgrading it later. After a week of use, I see that the upgrade is an absolute win-win. This docking station is perfect for my needs. I was concerned that for the price the docking station wouldn't be able to handle the traffic between the computer and the numerous USB devices I use or the network traffic around the office. I had no reason to worry. The thing works great, communicates with several devices at the same time. I use a USB hub to connect my mouse, keyboard, and external storage because the ports on the docking station are used by other office equipment. Even if you have more devices connected to the hub than the dock was designed for, it streams everything seamlessly through Surface's single USB3 port. The physical connection is difficult. Much tighter than the Surface power adapter connector. The installation was missing. It was plug and play. It takes just a few seconds each morning to connect the dock to your tablet and instantly connect to your network, monitor and full desktop. I didn't expect it to perform so well at this price point.
