Of course it's easy to extend the cords but for my project of replacing loose sockets in landscape lights I could use 24 inch cords use. But those are just my needs, the sockets worked fine and I'm happy that they're even available to replace what was in the old bases doesn't look like ceramic and it's expensive brass landscape lights so have I rebuilt them for a few bucks saved $150. lamp replacement. Brightness doesn't really apply because it's a function of incandescent bulbs, and I'm also very glad I found LEDs, although I wish the ones I did find were brighter.
