My dog is generally well behaved most of the time except for walks on a leash in the middle of the day when other people are walking their dogs. I've tried many methods to train him. First, start with positive reinforcement by giving him treats and other recommended methods. Nothing I tried for years worked until I gave in and finally gave him this collar, which in truth looks more like a torture device than anything else. The most important thing is to learn how to use it properly. There are many great videos on how to put the collar on properly and instructions on how to use it properly. What seems cruel at first glance is ultimately a safer collar than your standard collar as it puts even pressure on the neck, not just the front which can easily injure the esophagus when pulled. Yes I put the collar on myself just to see how it works and it really does what it's supposed to. The construction of the collar is excellent. Links and rings are welded and look high quality. All-metal construction and streamlined design ensure durability. The dog and I can go on pleasant walks and he won't hack, yank, or pounce on any living thing in sight. He's dying to go out, and since I find them much more pleasant, I always agree.
