They are nice and bright, the side lighting works great, it will dazzle you if you look directly at it. If you check your home at night it will blind someone, if you put it on their eyes you can't look around to see who is holding it. I feel comfortable knowing that if I ever had to defend my home, that light would buy me those precious seconds I need. They're inexpensive, rechargeable (which I haven't had to use yet). and bright. I feel comfortable wearing them as everyday wear. I wanted to use smaller flashlights, but the price and rechargeability made me try these. They come with two 18650 batteries that last longer than AA batteries and can be recharged 100 times. I may try the flashlight later, but I don't expect it will ever replace it. This is a great size for a coat or bag and they're a good weight making them a better quality but not so heavy they're dragging down your shorts. Sidelight wasn't something I ever thought I'd need, but I already see a lot of uses for it, especially when working on something hands-free. Update 10/25/2021 The light was great until it got wet. I used it under the house when I was fixing a leaking pipe. When it was splashed with water from the tap, it stopped working. I can no longer recommend these lights for use in wet conditions. I kept my rating at 3 stars as it's still a great flashlight under normal conditions. My only complaint other than the water issue is the button location. Flashlights with a button at the bottom are much better for emergencies.
