Looks like the photo. The locking mechanism is a fish-shaped plastic device that feels sturdy enough to stay on, but can be unlocked if needed if my cat gets stuck somewhere. My cat seems comfortable with this collar. He used to scratch his neck when he put his old collar on, which probably indicated that he didn't like the collar at all or didn't like the bell. However, he never scratched his neck while wearing this new collar! The only reason I bought a new collar was because he lost his old one on the street. However, if I had known that this collar was more comfortable, I would have bought it sooner! After 3 days of playing and using it outside, the collar is still on my cat (it hasn't been lost). I couldn't be happier with this brand or this item!
