This is the best of many meat thermometers we have. Exactly as advertised - fast and accurate. UPDATE: Stops working after 10 months. Blank screen when opening. The new battery didn't change anything. Playing with the battery resulted in a reading of -58 degrees, which disappeared after closing and reopening. Used about 10 times just for fried chicken. Never abused. Never wet. Nothing like sticking it in a chicken. After reading other reviews I see that there is no point in messing with Lavatools. I will definitely not buy anything from them again. The one star review said they could get the device working by tapping on the battery. After a few tries this worked. Now I've stuffed a stack of paper over the battery and now it reads the correct temperature. For future use, I expect to have to open the battery and play with it every time. This makes my other standard thermometers my first choice.
