**IF** you are a **smoker** they work, but they have other filters specifically designed for smokers (ARE NOT), although they are do not distinguish between smoking cigarettes Tobacco filters have pieces of coal, but they do not! More like sponges, they're better at picking up dander, pet hair, dust and the like, but again, they don't discriminate between cigarette smoke. These are the same types of filters that come with the Hamilton Bach True Air. I give them 5 stars because they work! For the price I give 2 stars! Expensive, but better than trying to buy a roll of "carbon filters" (to "save money") and trim them (a terrible idea, but you can try if you want) as these filters are MUCH better (no mess) and have a better consistency and a "paper" layer on the back - you really need to look out for that! $3 and replacing ONE (1) filter is a bit expensive and in the long run you will be spending about $60-$90 a year for ONE unit / True Air (non-operating unit) filters if you have a True Air unit with 3 filters, and although the device uses less power than some incandescent bulbs, I think it adds up! Made for smokers (again, these filters are NOT), they do NOT appear to block fan intake as much as tobacco filters. make. Suction power and airflow with these filters are excellent. Would get 5 stars if the filters were no more than $6.75.
