I did it quite religiously without even questioning it. Recently, after a little research, I was convinced that 99.9% of the time ACs are more or less redundant or unnecessary and that a good quality AC filter is more than enough. 215A on a fairly typical home office desktop (two 27" displays, PC with a 650W power supply, pair of 35W powered speakers, standing desk running) with just a Tripp-Lite ISOBAR8 Ultra, plugged directly into an outlet, ISOBAR made a fairly noticeable (and annoying) mechanical noise even when the devices weren't powered on. On a whim I connected the ISOBAR to the AC-215A and the audible noise is more or less gone now. While I haven't tested Fuhrman on a real oscilloscope, and there may be other explanations for what's going on here, under "real world" conditions the AC-215A is clearly doing *something* to regulate the current that the ISOBAR (which presumably has its own EMI filter and RFI d) had to fend for itself. So my third grade friend, you were right!
