Review on πŸ”Œ HDMI to 3RCA Composite AV Converter - Enhance Apple TV Connectivity for Optimal Performance by Jason Unruh

Successful Migration of HDMI to Legacy Red, White, and Yellow

As I write this, the fourth generation Apple TV successfully converts the HDMI output to RCA composite audio and video input for my CRT TV around. I am very satisfied with this Bleiden product, but I would like to point out some important consequences of using such a converter. My goal was to get Netflix on a regular non-widescreen TV. When viewing a program intended for widescreen viewing, it will be stretched vertically. The difference in aspect ratio is significant. However, I could get used to it. That's not an indicator for me. Also, not all resolution and/or refresh rate configurations will work. Some of them won't turn on, others result in the infamous color bars. It is important to be very careful when changing them. Most devices will return to their previous settings after a short pause. If you don't click OK, don't click OK. Regardless of whether you use NTSC or PAL, they are much lower resolution than 1080p HD or even 720p HD. As a result, some things are going to be very difficult to see, for example Netflix has icons for different shows and the titles in them are difficult to see with so few pixels. The pictures are still recognizable and that's enough for me. I understand that some people might think I'm crazy when cheap widescreen HD TVs are available. Regardless, I love what I have and am glad that Bleiden offers a converter that is actually compatible with all Apple TV models and the old red, white, and yellow inputs for my TV.
