As the great Robert Heinlein used to say, TANSTAAFL (there are no free meals). I didn't want to pay $80 for an Apple adapter, so I was glad to find these great people who sell "real" Apple adapters for $60. I was a little surprised at how they pull this off (Apple tightly controls the market price of their products), but I wanted to believe it. The adapter arrived working and looked very similar to a genuine Apple OEM adapter. All fine print, certificates etc. were similar to my native adapter. But after 10 months of use, he died. I opened it on a whim. It was a cheap fake. It was easy to say. What I saw was basically the same as this teardown: [.] Note how "official" the fake looks on this webpage. Well, that's what you get here. Attached is a photo of what I found. Note the low component density and terrible soldering. That sucks. So I paid $60 for a charger that lasted 10 months (obviously I was lucky it lasted that long). Now I have to put up with it and pay $80 for a real one. $60 to learn what I already knew: TANSTAAFL and you get what you paid for. Don't waste your money here. Edit: For some reason this charger is now $80 - I don't know if that means they are now selling genuine Apple chargers or just getting $20 more for their cheap copy. I would definitely avoid this seller.
