These really are sandals. There is no support between the legs and the ground and nothing but socks and a thin layer of "rubber". I had a lot of foot problems and the more pillows I added the worse my feet got. I bought them in all black with minimalist Whitin shoes. At first I could only wear them around the house for a short time, but now I can wear them all day and sometimes forget I'm wearing them and wear them to run errands. The feet have improved a lot with the shoe combination. I still wear my crocs from time to time when my feet need extra softness or warmth but they are great and will buy again if they fall apart which I won't see anytime soon.
