This is a very impressive mount. I bought two to have the same base on the tripod and on the gorillapod.1. Aluminum plate and base.2. The dual lever needs to be squeezed together to unlock so the lever doesn't accidentally catch on something and unlock it.3. The lever can be locked in the open position, so you don't have to open the camera again if you want to install it again.4. There is a small spring button that the panel pushes on insertion, causing the opening arm to spring-close and lock the panel in place. Two built-in levels for when you need them. (My camera has an on-screen digital level.) 6. The screw/grease head on the bottom of the plate/shoe has a rotating D-ring that allows for easy tightening without a coin or screwdriver. I use it for a mirrorless camera. For a large camera and lens, you may need something heavier.
