Yes, this pillow is larger than and heavier than most others. I LOVE this. It is firm enough to provide support and I don't have to pile up several pillows. I sometimes turn with the pillow and it does require a little more effort than a flatter, lighter version, but not by much - any pillow tends to get caught in the sheets / blankets for me. If I'm not using covers, I have no problem turning with the pillow.I have chronic SI joint issues and other chronic pain. This pillow really helps keep my hips, knees, and back happier. It tends to stay put nicely when I choose to use it behind me to support my back - better than any other pillow I've tried. It has enough heft to be able to lean against it without collapsing.Do be sure that the cover you purchase (if you use a separate cover) is sized to hold this pillow's thicker profile or you're going to have difficulty getting the cover on. I like the microsuede texture of this pillow, but it is warm. We rarely use air conditioning, so this can get uncomfortable during the summer and I use a cotton cover to help keep it a bit cooler.
