Device works as intended, but you, the user, have different expectations. This device does not measure moisture content directly, but provides a qualitative reference for moisture content. I think that the manual should be more comprehensive in terms of content. On the other hand, EXTECH people responded to my mail so quickly and with a very helpful explanation of the theory, philosophy and working principles of this device. That was my first reaction, but now I understand what its capabilities and limitations are. I bought another device with contacts just as a backup until I feel comfortable and confident with the MO257.
