Extech MO260 Combination Pinless Moisture Review

Device works as intended, but you, the user, have different expectations. This device does not measure moisture content directly, but provides a qualitative reference for moisture content. I think that the manual should be more comprehensive in terms of content. On the other hand, EXTECH people responded to my mail so quickly and with a very helpful explanation of the theory, philosophy and working principles of this device. This is by far the worst moisture meter. It never worked properly and is now unusable. It worked well enough for me to gain confidence, but I was never really happy with it. Now the 1 year warranty has expired and it only works when it wants to. I can send it in for repair for $150 which I won't do. I'd rather take the risk of buying another counter. I expected more from Extech, a flir company. I use other Extech and Flir products that work great. For the price I expected a better product and…

Update: I have contacted Extech about the defective unit, they will send me a new one without question. I've already started buying another one as I've always wanted a backup device for my home visits. The second unit is working great and I should get a replacement from Extech next week. So I'm changing my rating to 5 stars as I think the block is great for home viewing. Worked well initially, very sensitive.
