This replaced an all-glass block that appeared visually larger than this one. The old glass had fallen off the base and shattered, leaving tiny shards of glass on the countertop. This is not surprising as glass teapots are usually very thin to withstand rapid changes in temperature. The downside of this necessary attribute is that destruction is only a matter of time. Enter the Crescent Teapot! It came just a day after the first one went to tea heaven (dumpster disposal). The black plastic covers the glass and forms the base. There is no contact of fragile glass with the countertop. Holds a lot of tea, more than the old one, although it looks smaller. The metal grille is a big improvement over the glass canister in the old block. No loose tea stagnates where it shouldn't and cleaning is a breeze. He even looks good. In general, we are very happy and less nervous when we make tea.
