Review on Kaytee CritterTrail Super Habitat Animals by Alicia Fraser

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Huge gaping hole and brittle plastic

The only good thing about this cage is that it's huge. I wish Katie would make more hamster cages bigger than those tiny colorful cages only for the littlest hamsters. However, this particular cage is made from the thinnest and cheapest plastic available. Wire and plastic parts almost do not fit together. Worst of all, they left a square hole in the metal part to attach the Kaytee tubes. This is stupid for two reasons. 1. Any hamster that requires such a large cage (Syrian) will not be able to comfortably fit in these tiny Kaytee Crittertrail Tubes. 2. You can't close a hole. They send a plastic square tube connector and port hole plug, but the plastic latches on the square hole port are very flimsy. One of my latches was deformed and the other bent and broke immediately when I attached it to the cage. I attached Katie's feeder and the entire assembly fell out of the cage leaving a huge escape hole and breaking the feeder. I would have given this cage 4 stars if it wasn't for the porthole assembly. There is no other way to close this hole than with a thin plastic cage adapter and a port hole plug. My hamster is a great pet. I can't let him escape. I have to send this cell back and find another solution. Kaytee will either have to make his connectors out of a stronger plastic, add a metal door to cover the porthole, or just leave holes for the pipes.
