Obviously these aren't top of the range knives, whatever that sounds like; However, they are sturdy and get the job done. I would definitely recommend it as a knife set for beginners. I've been using my set for about 2 years and haven't encountered many problems. Yes, the device comes with built-in sharpeners for large knives; However, they didn't work as well as I had hoped and I still have to sharpen my knives with a separate sharpener. The handles are light, which I like, although the blades are thinner. For the reviewers who complained about rusting knives, if you care for them properly and dry them immediately after washing, the problem is minimal.
