Great ethernet speed

I bought this for a new MacBook Pro 16 (2019) and didn't want to use multiple dongles (thanks Apple!). I ran a speed test using iperf3 on my old MBP (2013) which *has* an ethernet port (thanks Apple!) and an old direct-connected computer at 870Mbps. Using a Mokin adapter on a new MBP ( 2019) - 891Mbps. I would attribute the difference to a slower processor, but obviously the Mokin ethernet port is capable of what is probably the practical maximum throughput of Gb ethernet. In addition to Ethernet, my keyboard and mouse, Dell FHD monitor, and external speakers connect to the Mokin hubโ€”essentially the equivalent of my old Dell docking station with a single USB-C port. Yes, and the PD port will also powered. The only downside I've seen so far is heat - I expect some people complaining about the device's short lifespan will have heat issues. I'm hoping to add some copper rods as heat sinks to keep things under control. In very unscientific testing, outside temperatures sit at around 37 degrees Celsius/98 degrees Fahrenheit at normal room temperature when idling.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Functionality
