One of my favorite purchases of the year and also one of the smartest and healthiest. This washing soda and bleach are staples in my home. I'm an eco-friendly, frugal mother of two who has made many healthy shifts to products that support, not destroy, our environment. I live in a rural area where each family pays for and digs their own septic system. Therefore, biodegradable materials are not only important to the environment, they are also important and necessary for high-efficiency sewage treatment plants and for extending the life of pipelines, pipes and aeration (leach) fields. This washing soda contains only six ingredients, primarily sodium and coconut-based, which, while highly effective cleaning agents, also contain no dyes, fragrances, or petroleum-based by-products that cannot be broken down in topsoil. If our soil can't handle these chemicals, then you know our skin can't either, and numerous studies have backed this up. So Nellie's is great for the environment and less wasteful because it's not made in polluting, greenhouse gas emitting factories. and also good for our skin and body. But how is it cleaned? Well, the first time I used it on a large load of laundry (I have a front loading HE machine) I was blown away by how vibrant the colors were and how white the whites came out. I used to use top brand commercial liquid detergents that can be found at any store in America (starts with a T) along with either bleach or vinegar, and two small scoops of Nellie's beats both for cleanliness. There was no competition. My husband works outside and often gets dirty in his pockets. I was amazed and have never bought any other detergent again. That was nine months ago and I'm still in my first bank. I wash a full load for a family of four two to three times a week. This also makes this brand cheaper for the wallet, because in the same amount of time I would have bought three cans of my previous liquid detergent, which costs more. and I definitely and enthusiastically recommend it to everyone.
