I like this concept but the design needs improvement. Almost every door cannot be opened 90° and will have a gap of about 3 inches around the edge of the door. More like 85゚ or something like that. So I had to pad the outside edge of both sides of the latch. This rotated the two pieces so that they were perpendicular to each other rather than flush with the sides of the door and trailer. This slight adjustment was necessary for the latch to engage. Without it it was impossible to open the door, it would have been a waste of money had it not been for a bit of ingenuity that would have to be built into the device, perhaps a plastic base so the base could be positioned at a slight angle as required to the left or right . You'll notice in the one picture above when the latch touches but doesn't fully engage. He starts connecting with one edge before the other. This is normal, but only to a small extent.
