Review on W1717 3HP Horizontal Vertical Sander: Ultimate Power for Versatile Sanding by Edwin White

Revainrating 3 out of 5

What is an edge grinder?

I needed a good edger, or as good as I could afford. After the China-US tariff war, all instruments are more expensive. So I looked for used ones or what I could find but I couldn't find anything. I bought it in the store but couldn't keep the table level with the belt. I make cutting boards, one of my designs is called Sun Flare. The edges should be perfectly flat so that no gaps or seams become too noticeable. My son suggested Shop Fox. I looked online and sure enough, it was the right size and price. Delivered within 2 or 3 days, easy installation, good adjustment of table and belt, ability to stay straight. I was concerned with the lack of motor power although I would have opted for a larger grinding surface as this model can handle around 9 inches, 10 inches would be better. HP aside, I didn't like that if you remove the end cap there's nothing to connect the vacuum to. The end cap was the part where there was an extra table to allow contour sanding to be done. These are the reasons for rating 3.
