There are times when the standard height stand is too high, even when set as low as possible. These are the perfect coasters for this as they can be adjusted from 16 to 28 inches. Great for the backlight, but I also used one to light the bottom softbox when setting up the clamshell lighting. The legs are a bit tricky to set up with a sandbag because they're so short, but the large D-ring will attach one of my sandbags to the post fairly easily (do this before adding the monoblock and softbox). I've found these stands to be good for mounting strobes or even a small GoPro camera as they have a 1/4-20 threaded tip and place them on tables, distant rocks, etc.
