The lead inside the pencil is too hard. Marking on knitted or soft fabrics requires strong pressure and repeating the mark several times to get the mark on knitted or softer fabrics. With a softer lead, this white graphite marker would have been more effective on fabric and the markings would have been easier to see. For graphite markings on other fabrics I usually buy soft pencils and they are so easy to mark on knitwear or other fabrics compared to this white graphite pencil. It's not just about the marks, it's a bit difficult to see the marks as the white pencil marks on the fabric are light. Make sure you try the pencil on different types of fabric to make sure it works for you when you receive it so you don't miss a return day. I'm not sure I'll be returning it as it's such a problem but not being able to use it is also a disappointment.
