The lead inside the pencil is too hard. Marking on knitted or soft fabrics requires strong pressure and repeating the mark several times to get the mark on knitted or softer fabrics. With a softer lead, this white graphite marker would have been more effective on fabric and the markings would have been easier to see. I have had a Fons and Porter white mechanical pencil for a long time and needed the leads but I wasn't sure what size the leads are when they change. I couldn't find it under that brand. But in my search I found this new pencil from Dritz AND Fons & Porter that I have not seen from two brands before.
