I bought this to replace the wireless receiver in my Hunter fan which was starting to have light flickering issues. I installed it. Installation was very easy with my fan. However, it was emphasized that the antenna wire should hang outside the lantern. It seems odd and I've never seen a ceiling fan need to hang its antenna wire outside of the canopy. It would have looked very distasteful and I refused to do so. So I stayed in the dome as I thought it should be (and other wireless receivers work fine this way). After turning on the device, I received a beep that the receiver was on. The light went on. However, the remote control didn't work. I've gone through the pairing process with the remote a few times. But still doesn't work. I think this cheap piece of shit should really have an antenna hanging out there? Since I will not do this, I will be returning this defective item and looking for something better.
