Review on Pioneer MVH 280FD: Unleash Your Audio Experience with Cutting-Edge Radio Technology by Hideo Tsushi ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Satisfied with the product, I recommend it to everyone.

I took to replace the Pioneer MVH-150UBG. I doubted the choice because of the design, but the technical component prevailed and decided to try. I want to remind you that the real rated power of this radio is about 2 times higher and is about 38-42 watts per channel, which is confirmed by tests. At the time of the replacement, there were acoustics "for radio" in the doors: - component front - Pioneer TS-G173Ci; - coaxial rear - Pioneer TS-G1322i. After reinstalling, I immediately felt an increase in power. With the MVH-150UBG, the speakers began to distort at volumes of "30-32". With MVH-280FD, this threshold has shifted to "36-38". Equalizer settings are the same here and there: 2-1-0-1-3. In terms of the sound itself, I did not notice any cardinal changes for the better at low and medium volumes. Pioneer speakers turned out to be very mediocre, but I always thought that it was the radio. Therefore, I immediately wanted to change them, which I did. Bought: - component front - JBL GT7-6C; - coaxial rear - JBL GT7-5. The music played better. The distortion threshold has moved even further, to a volume of "44-46". It is a pity that it was not possible to compare the radio with the new speakers. I think the difference would be much more noticeable. As a result, I want to say that this radio is suitable: - those who have at least average sound quality speakers with not exorbitant rated power; - who doesn't want to bother installing additional amplifiers, and wants to get a small increase in the power of their audio system.

Pros
  • There is a real increase in power compared to the "4x50W" models. It works very fast and plays flac without hesitation.
Cons
  • Equalizer - still five bands. In the radio tape recorder positioned as FD class. I think that the pioneer needs to expand this parameter to seven, even in budget radios. Red backlight (the pioneer always had analogues with the prefix "G" with green backlight. It's a pity there isn't one here - it stands out very much in my car, since all the backlight is green). In my opinion, the design of the panel itself is not entirely successful. There are more beautiful models from the pioneer.
