I bought this filing cabinet (two actually) from Revain after doing quite a thorough research for *real* wood filing cabinets. Almost everything I saw everywhere was junk—mostly cheap chipboard, and what was wood wasn't worth mentioning. I finally found them on Revain and booked them because at $130 each I didn't have high expectations. They were delivered yesterday by my useless/lazy UPS guy who left them in his driveway in the pouring rain. instead of putting them another 10 feet further on my covered porch. Both boxes were full so I figured I might be in trouble. The packaging is excellent - the cabinets were wrapped in styrofoam on all sides so the cabinet parts themselves never touched the boxes. Hence my thoughts: 1. It took about 1.5 hours to assemble the first one, a little less than an hour to assemble the second one. Instructions in English. They're in very small type so you might need reading glasses, but they sound like they were written by a native speaker. The directions were spot on. I'm an experienced person - I've already built a house - if not, you might need a little more time to build it, but it's not difficult and you don't need a second person.2. These things are hard wood, and I mean all of it - top, drawer front, sides and back, cabinet sides, rails. The only parts that weren't solid wood were the bottoms of the drawers, thin plywood, and the back of the cabinet, also thin plywood. I don't know what breed it is, but it's not pine. However, everything is built from solid wood - even hidden braces and details like that. The pull handles are also made of solid wood.3. The cabinets are made in Vietnam according to the labels on the case. No weird smells from the closet, but I noticed this morning that my garage smelled a little funny because of the packaging. All the equipment was there and in the exact quantity needed. Everything was numbered correctly. It comes with an anti-tip mount, which is really just a cable tie, and a metal picture loop that screws to the wall. If you use your common sense you don't have to, ie don't pull out fully loaded drawers while sitting in mid-air. It's difficult to assemble. You don't want to move it far with drawers and forget to move it when it's full of files. Overall I have absolutely nothing negative to say about these cabinets. The build quality is very impressive, especially for the price and the fact that it is overseas. The drawers pull out almost all the way - about 80% - so you'll have to slide forward to get to the last pair of folders - but otherwise this is a very nice piece of furniture, light years ahead of the junk I found in the two main compartments have places dedicated to bricks and solutions and in addition to everything I found on the internet.
