I am very impressed with its quality!

I'm an audio/video engineer by trade, but I'm very impressed with the picture quality of this unit's cameras! After reading some other reviews I thought I'd try to point out what I found about this device when I set it up: at the urging of some other buyers I bought a 128GB card and I bought a Samsung EVO (with adapter) on the manufacturer's recommendation. The card didn't work on the first try - the menu prompted me to install the card even though it was already correctly inserted. I agreed, but he still said he had memory problems and refused to take individual pictures or videos. I took out the card to test it on my Mac and found that it came formatted EXFAT from the factory. The manual explicitly calls for FAT32, an older file format that both Macs and PCs can use. So I reformatted the card to FAT32 (erased using Mac Disk Utility) and it still didn't work. So I tried formatting on the device itself - and it works like a champ with all the 128GB available. One problem solved. BTW, FAT32 only allows files up to 4GB, so entries are likely to be 3 minute segments or less. This makes them easier to scan, but at the higher resolutions the camera offers, 3 minutes might be all they can capture. I doubt it given the data used in my HD recordings, but it's an old file format. However, it works on both Mac and PC, so compatibility alone makes this map file format the right one. Next, the camera's resolution format is a little odd - it defaults to 720/720 and reverts back to it after a power outage (auto-off). By the way, you MUST have 2 sets of numbers for both cameras to work. I wanted 1080/1080 and that setting is called FHD P30 + FHD P30. I'm assuming this means full high definition at 30 progressive frames per second. If I set the camera to the desired settings, tell it to record, and then turn on the LOCK function, the device turns on in the correct video format and starts recording immediately; I activated it within 10 seconds of turning it off. It saves all settings and stays on record when the car is turned on, keeping the lock on. I found the suction cup mount to be well made, but had to fiddle with it a few times to get a good mount. Once I've found a good clamp it seems to stay on the glass but time will tell with temperature changes. All suction cups are prone to failure. I'm glad it comes with a suction cup mount, if only for the reason that it takes time and effort to find the best position to mount the camera for ease of use, better visibility when driving and a efficient camera position. I want to place my camera behind the rearview mirror from the driver's perspective so that it appears hidden. It doesn't block my vision and I prefer not to be distracted while driving. Once I set it up I don't want to mess with it, but it does make setup and installation a bit more of a hassle. I have found that rotating the camera body so that it hangs down (allowing the screen to be initially visible while being more vertical than I expected) helps install the suction cup. Video recording in DVD-like format: TS-Video. On my 40 minute drive this morning it used 4GB, that's about 1GB/10 minutes at 1080 dual recording. Best viewed with VLC, but since I'm recording from 2 cameras at the same time, I end up with two files for 3 minutes. The file names are long, but one of them is marked with an A; the other is B. If you load all A files in VLC one by one, you can see them playing one by one. I also tried loading the files into Adobe Premiere 2017 and they didn't need to be converted. So if you know how to edit videos, you can zoom in and out on images and even edit picture-in-picture. This can be VERY useful if you're in an accident with a tailgate approaching and then crashing in front of you - you can zoom in on the rear window instead of focusing on the inside of the car, show the tailgate and then the car. rushes by to get into an accident. The HD wide-angle fisheye lenses are wide enough to see what drivers are doing on either side, allowing you to catch a glimpse when they're distracted by your car. Recording. Audio recording is adequate but a bit quiet and this might be preferable - you can always amplify a good recording and the microphone is adequate; it only records about 6-10dB lower than I expected. The guide is fairly spartan - lacking in detail. I think some of the details I'm including here will really help with the installation. But if you play around with the controls, take the time to read the on-screen prompts and experiment, this device is great and looks like it's running a good operating system - you shouldn't be disappointed. In general I am VERY satisfied. with the unit; It takes some effort to understand and get all of its settings right, and it takes effort to position it where you prefer. I'd probably prefer a setting to toggle the infrared on and off for the interior camera if I was more interested in the people inside than the traffic behind, and that would be a bonus for all UBER and taxi drivers. For the money I am more than satisfied with this device! EDIT 7/2019: I still love this camera and have very few issues with the suction cup. So I bought a second car for my wife. The updated camera has two major changes that I noticed when starting the installation: GOOD: the dual camera is now infrared equipped, so it can take good pictures of the car's interior in the dark! SURPRISE: Despite clicking Revain's "BUY AGAIN" button, I received an upgraded camera (which costs a little more with infrared) but NO SUCKER - must be purchased as a separate item for an additional $5. Thinking I was going to buy the same item I didn't read to find out it was an upgraded camera until I routed the cable through the dash bezels. <sigh> If you detach the camera from time to time and don't want to use the adhesive mount, please purchase the suction cup mount separately at the time of your order.
