Fewer mistakes and easier to work with than other boutique Sashay yarns

I crocheted my first ruffled scarf using boutique Sashay yarn (very fine silver thread sewn into one edge). The yarn was easy to work with and was made into a 6ft 26in scarf. I knit another one with no problems. For the next scarf I used Sashay SPARKLE (1/4" wide, silver border on one side). The Sashay SPARKLE yarn in question also had a sturdy crochet/face edge and was easy to crochet. I have at least three more with me SPARKLE yarn made with no flaws or issues Again the finished scarves were over 6ft long I recommend SPARKLE over everyone else although I like the look of Sashay SEQUIN best Read on for more yarn styles for Sashay ruffle scarves There were absolutely NO defects, holes, broken/torn edges or weak crochet edges using Boutique Sashay and Sparkle yarns. This year I bought my first 2 balls of yarn Sashay METALLIC yarn What a mess! The top edge you crochet/face was very loose. When I pulled the tenth (last) stitch through all the loops on the hook, the last stitch unraveled and turned into A thin, very weak thread 1-2" long! I en tangled the whole scarf and started again, very carefully. The same thing happened. As I had to drive 70 miles with RT to return/exchange the yarn and had just had knee surgery I decided to continue crocheting with this yarn hoping the finished scarf would look good. , I came across a giant knot (two ends of the same yarn tied together) with large holes on each side. I had to trim the knots and holes and lost about 1.5 feet of yarn. I then had to fold each end over, then overlap 2 inches and crochet through all 4 layers. THIS IS NOT DIFFICULT TO DO. I continued crocheting this scarf. After another 2-3 feet I found another big mistake: the end of one piece of yarn was overlapped by the end of another piece and everything was sewn heavily. I couldn't continue with the overlap (it was stiff and very visible) so I had to cut off a few inches AGAIN and overlap again. So annoying and a waste of my time. The finished scarf was only 5 feet long and the crocheted edge was very loose. Despite this bad experience with Sashay Metallic Thread, I started another scarf with the second skein of Metallic Thread. Big mistake. The second ball was worse than the first - more mistakes. This scarf was also about 5 feet long. Since I wanted to make more ruffle scarves as requested by friends and family, I decided to try the new Sashay SEQUIN yarn. The first scarf was light. the crocheted/knitted edge was sturdy and easy to work with. The finished scarf was beautiful and about 6.5 feet long. I started with the second Sashay SEQUIN scarf. Once again after crocheting I ended up with a messy knot with lots of big holes on each side. I had to cut off 26 inches of overlap etc and continue. I wrapped and smoothed out a few yards of yarn and didn't see any more mistakes, so I continued crocheting. Guess what? Yes, I stumbled across two more feet with serious flaws: the yarn was full of large holes, and the sequin fringe was full of cuts and creases that had been sewn together. The glitter edge was torn. I cut another 2 feet, overlapped and continued. The finished scarf was barely 5 feet long. Five feet is enough to roll up a scarf and wrap it around your neck, but the ends are very short. DO NOT unwind the entire ball of yarn and check for errors before knitting. Avoid Sashay METALLIC yarn. UNUNROLL and check ALL other Sashay yarns before beginning scarf. BTW, Red Heart said that knots and overlaps are "normal"! For real? I used the same number of stitches when knitting ALL the strands.

Pros
  • Superb construction
Cons
  • Crumpled wrapping
