In which direction?! in steering wheel accessory

I fitted this along with the trapezoidal pad at the bottom of the steering wheel. I thought it was upside down. The hand holding what I think should be at 10 and 2 looked like it was at 4 and 8, so I flipped it. The suede patches are now at 10 and 2. The trapezoid patch is now at the top but works like a 12 o'clock crank.
