Work great, esp. during cooler summers
Great if you want a head start on planting before the ground thaws since the black felt absorbs heat and warms the soil. Good for the spring when it's still cool out, too (for those who don't have frozen ground). Definitely cover top soil with wood chips or soil covering of choice since the soil dries out quickly in these (and in most) felt pots if they're not covered with something.
