I've been in radio for 30 years and I can't tell you how many times I've had to slowly lower myself into a chair because the microphone boom was slowly lowering. Now I have my own production studio and I wanted a solid mic stand that didn't cost $100 or more. I found this one and decided to give it a try. It arrived today and I've pinned it to my desk. The clip is huge and you can easily attach it to 2X4. I use a fairly heavy microphone (Shure sm7b). I don't know how much he weighs but probably around 2 pounds. Not only does it keep the mic steady, you have to lower the pole if you want to lower the mic. I am very happy with this stand. Much better than I thought I paid $49 for it and got free shipping. I highly recommend this stand.
