I think there is some confusion as to what they are currently selling, so I'll say yes, this version they sent me has a magnetic lid and VESA holes on the back. There's full HDMI too - they mislead people by offering you a mini HDMI adapter or cable. you will not. Concerned about getting 60Hz over HDMI at 2560x1600, I also bought a Wacom mini display port and an HDMI to USB adapter, but now I realize I don't need that adapter after all. Everything seems to work fine with my MacBook Pro and Air. Not sure about another Mac user's bad review. Yes, the scaling isn't perfect like a 4k or 4x screen, but that's to be expected from literally any monitor. Of course, I may have already made the necessary SIP modifications before using this, but I didn't think I applied the scaling fix to both machines, necessarily one of them. I'm definitely very happy with this monitor and will be using it extensively on a stand that keeps it at eye level whether I'm outside, on the couch, in bed etc. There is literally no situation where I would not be able to code and write comfortably no matter what position I find myself in. at or where I am. In addition, it becomes much easier to be ergonomic at all times. I also feel like I just enlarged my laptop to have 2 screens, similar to ASUS, but that makes a lot more sense and is a lot more useful in my opinion. If I later upgrade to M1 or M2, this monitor will also be very useful. The only thing I'll dock them for is tiny speakers, almost useless, you might as well not turn them on at all. Second, the plastic feels softer and thinner than it should be, it feels like the plastic in a cheap DVD case, which means it's likely to become brittle and crack over time. I could be wrong about the plastic but it seems dangerously cheap to me, maybe it's a matte finish and I would feel differently if it were a slick plastic that attracts fingerprints but I'm not sure.
