I put a new motherboard and PSU in a 15 year old case that didn't have USB 3.1 ports on the front (was USB 2.0). It had the correct cables and connectors to connect to the USB 3.1 header and audio jack on the front of the motherboard. Everything works great, including the "sense" feature that notifies the computer when headphones and/or a microphone are plugged into the front panel. (By default, Windows 10 disables the rear [speaker] audio output when you plug headphones into the front panel.) One post complained that the size was wrong and needed to be cropped to fit. However, if you mount it through the faceplate, it fits perfectly and the faceplate helps hold it in place when connecting items. If you install this item with the front bezel removed, and then try to put the bezel on it (this is the correct way to install optical drives), it will not work. Install it through the faceplate and it fits perfectly as you can see in the photo.
