I bought them to make mead. While I haven't used them for this purpose yet (Mead is still in its infancy), these corks are exactly what I was hoping for. They are perfectly formed, dense but not too hard, have no noticeable smell or taste (unlike natural rubber) and should be hypoallergenic. The #6 stopper is ideal for the neck of 1 gallon Carlo Rossi wine jugs. I decided today to sanitize my storage jars. If the stopper is gently held in place with the thumb, even the strongest shaking will not cause leakage. The "drilled" plugs work great with my locks. I look forward to working with them! I, like others, have noticed that the cork pops out of the neck of the bottle when wet. My solution to this was to soak a beard towel in the sanitizing solution, wring it out completely, and then use a slightly damp cloth to dry both the cork and the neck of the pitcher. A few hours later the corks were still tight enough that I could lift the (empty) pot by the cork. However, they can be easily removed. Perfection!
