Review on Inogen SG_B00D9BU4IK_US One G3 Backpack by Rodney Sample

Does exactly what it's designed to do

I am a very active 53 year old male with medical conditions that require the use of supplemental oxygen to stay active. The Imogen comes with a shoulder bag which is impractical for me so I decided to give this backpack a try. If you're not physically able to hold the carrying case that comes with the Imogen G3, this isn't for you. I have a G3 with an extended battery that weighs 6 pounds. This bag weighs 4 pounds so you look like 10 pounds overall. However, when it's on its back, the bag is very well built and sturdy. The weight is evenly distributed. I went on a four hour hike with him and never had any complaints. When I had liquid oxygen, which weighs less, my back hurt after an hour for some reason. It's a backpack so why would anyone try to sit on it, I can't. You usually take off your backpack before you sit down. Any backpack. And if you're boarding a plane, don't carry a backpack on your back when you're boarding. Any backpack would be difficult to take off on the plane. You as a patient must be aware of your personal limitations and not criticize the topic as it is designed for an active lifestyle. It's like trying to fit a square into a circle. If you are an active oxygen person and can move around unassisted, a shoulder bag can work because you have both hands free. The case comes with a top piece for the actual device, and the bottom piece has padding that you can remove if you have an extended battery. It is attached with Velcro so it can be easily removed or replaced. There is a bottom section that can conveniently hold a wall and car charger. There is also a small zippered pocket with flap for small items like an extra cannula. There are two open mesh pockets on the sides which I like to store the cannula in when not in use. The straps that go around the shoulders are pleasantly soft and comfortable. There is a hole for the charging port, so you basically don't need to take the device out of your backpack if you have a stationary concentrator at home and only use it for portable oxygen. With the device on your back, when you're stationary, you'll feel the G3 vibrate when it's on. Some might find this annoying. It does not bother me. It's like a low-level massage chair. The bag is very heavy when the device is in it and does not stand in its own recess. This happens when you lean it against a chair or table. Bottom line: if you need help getting mobile, this probably isn't for you. If you lead an active lifestyle and are fully self-reliant, this could be ideal for you.
