As far as I know I haven't had any surges so can't speak to the protection but everything else has worked great so far. 600 joules is a good number, I'm not worried about that. It powers all my devices and I have filled all the sockets. The cord length suits me (4ft version). It doesn't have a ground indicator to tell you if it's grounded or not. You don't know if it's used up when a surge occurs, or if it needs to be replaced or not. I really wish there was an indicator because that's its main purpose so I can't give a full 5 stars. I already have 2 of these around the apartment, but I might need to buy another one next time so I can be sure it's actually protecting my hardware, mainly my computer.
