These Panel Meters and Current Transformers are sold together as a set for a reason. I installed these electricity meters on an existing electrical closet in a remote commercial building so I can see how much electricity that building is using and view the cumulative kilowatt hours for that building. Knowing the average cost per kWh, it's easy to calculate the cost per day for a storage building. The current transformers provided with this kit are pluggable, allowing them to fit incoming power lines without disconnecting the power lines. The power panel is supplied with 240 volts, therefore two current transformers and two panel meters are needed to measure and display the total power (add the two values). CT and voltage must be on the same source (wire) for the power factor to be displayed correctly. I had to extend the CT wires to get to the panel meter; and I did it with the same wire and a solder joint insulated with shrink tubing. This panel meter is designed to fit into a rectangular cut-out in a panel or box. The required dimensions are clearly indicated in the instructions. I used a 4" x 4" x 4" plastic junction box and used a dremel saw to cut a hole in the lid for both counters (they fit perfectly). There are several videos on the internet showing various ways to do this Show installation of this meter.
