I've used this pad in every corner of my bluetooth keyboard to prevent it from touching (and possibly scratching) the iPad screen. It worked wonderfully! It's very thin so the case can be closed completely, but has enough padding so the screen doesn't directly touch the keyboard. If you put something heavy under the lamps/vases/etc. to protect them from scratches on the surface they stand on may not be enough. There are probably other, thicker options that are better suited for this. However, this is the IDEAL thickness to prevent electronics from damaging each other in a backpack when traveling. It was exactly what I was looking for.
