So, the premise is that I needed to install some smoke detectors, and I didn't have a drill, and I didn't want to start drilling holes all over the apartment. There was only one point for installing a fire alarm and the bracket did not match the alarms I bought. Get to know magnetic mounts. I've successfully installed 4 10 year old X-Sense alarm clocks (those are big asses) in my apartment with it without drilling a single hole. The magnetic force is real. I managed to mount 3 vertically on the wall and one on the roof. It's been a few weeks and they haven't fallen at all. Can be attached to either a flat clear painted wall or a rough textured wall (I don't know the exact name). bonus score. Once or twice when the alarm goes off for cooking glitches, I can just reach out and just grab the damn thing, push the button, and toss it under my pillow to clean the cracked skillet. The strength of the glue on the wall plate is very high, which is both good and bad. While I haven't removed any of them, I think it might take some of the pain away if you do. Still way better than having holes in the wall or sticking out where you can't drill 4 holes.
