I bought this for my almost 13 year old son because he used to have fun with paper airplanes and likes kites. I hoped he hadn't outgrown this as he can be quite picky about how he spends his time and what he enjoys. He's been happy about this for hours. What does he really like? He appreciates the way the book's authors chose the stats, particularly the flight stats, to suit the dragon type. He showed me how each of them flew and explained very vividly for a while why he liked them so much, and then compared and contrasted the flight characteristics (while flying them). For example, he likes that the mountain dragon flies majestically, as one would expect from this species of dragon. Those were his words. Another nice bonus of this book is that it has interesting text with detailed information about dragons - their history, size, diet, geographic region, etc. My son loves to read, but he doesn't take books home with him when he travels. just read every day. So that was a nice bonus because he definitely nailed it with that.
