I don't know, maybe it's the smaller cable.
I don't know if the cable is too small or if the compression fittings are junk, but it doesn't work either way. The compression fittings are designed for 1/8 inch stainless steel cable and do not hold the cable at all; the cable pulls out with minimal effort. - Okay, nowhere online or on the box says they are for 5/32" cable instead of the standard 1/8" cable. They work great if you have the right size cable. I changed my rating from one to three stars after using the correct cable. It would have been five stars but due to lack of information and irritation I gave it three stars.
