Honestly I'm at a dead end. I used to have one of these sharpeners and it was fantastic. I recently lost it so I ordered two replacements. One for home and one for the office. Unfortunately I think the ones I received may be defective as the second hole that sharpens the pencil into a long thin point doesn't work with either of the two sharpeners I bought. I can't visually determine what the problem is. In the end, there is nothing stuck preventing the pencil from being fully inserted, and this applies to BOTH sharpeners, not just one. I put a pencil in a thin hole after sharpening the first hole and it just spins, which is weird because the hole seems to be the right diameter. It's like the blade at the top isn't down far enough to actually hook the pencil. Just a word of caution: if you want this sharpener, which is usually great, don't buy this; find it elsewhere.
