Review on Polished Brass Kwikset 1825-18 6-Way Adjustable Dead Latch by Mikey Jackson

With some effort managed to fix my broken latch. I wasn't sure about the part description and lack of photos, but this item IS an external latch, just like I wanted. Supplied in original Kwikset blister pack part no. 19841 6WAL DL CP 3 (6WAL corresponds to stamp on defective part) and 81825-001. Also referred to as "Hecho en Mexico" rather than China. My deadbolt has always hit the striker plate a little lower (when closing the door) but in this case the striker plate had to be filed a bit to enlarge/reduce the hole and fit the bolt into the hole. Confusing as this latch was actually smaller in diameter than the broken latch. And neither the door nor the box sagged or moved - they're still square. Oh good - it worked. Would I buy again, definitely. The part description should show a latch with a visible "outside" tab so the buyer knows if the door is an inside or outside door. I went through 6 different suggestions and chose this one with a bit of hope after doing my homework to determine that the "dead latch" is for a spring solution. The photo is so redacted that on some questions (Q&A) it was not clear whether it is a bolt or a latch (with a spring) - the star was removed due to the mediocre description of the part.
