2006 Sonata GLS 3.3L V6 154,000 miles

Installed on a 2006 Sonata GLS 3.3L V6 with 154,000 miles. Also ordered and installed a Monroe 905984 Strut-Mate mounting kit for these shocks. Easy job, the old shock absorbers were bad! Much better to drive. Can't match the price and labor savings! I reused the shock absorber which was in good condition. The first side took a while because the bushing of the lower attachment point got stuck on the bolt shank. Apparently I didn't flush the bottom attachment point with penetrating spray enough! On the second side I used a lot of penetrating spray (like PB Blaster) and it popped out with no problem. I made the second side in under an hour! Top screws are no problem on either side. Before moving on to page two, I shot a penetrating spray into the lower mounting nut and shaft, then picked up the car and removed the wheel. Spray the lower shaft again, focusing on the inside (without the nut) of the Wave. Then I gathered my tools, put a second jack under the A-arm etc. and then sprayed the lower driveshaft again. He took his time and let the penetrating spray unfold its effect. Loosen the top bolts, remove the bottom nut, remove the top bolts, then wiggle the shock absorber on the bottom shaft and it popped out. Use an impact wrench to remove the old shock nut holding the old shock to the old Strut-Mate assembly and remove the boot. Gathered a new shock absorber, an old dust bag and a new stanchion; then installed the assembly on the machine. USE ENTRY SYRINGE ON THE BOTTOM SHAFT! Place a piece of cardboard underneath to catch the excess. Easy job, the old shock absorbers were bad! Much better to drive.
